ImageYear 2023

The WSL has announced the schedule for the 2023 Championship Tour. For the second year running, this calendar will be the same for men and women.

There will be 10 stages in this season, located in 7 different countries. The year will start, as for the year 2022, on January 29th in Pipe with the Billabong Pro Pipeline.
A mid-season cut is also planned, as in the previous two years, after the Margaret River Pro, the fifth stage of this season.
This year will be all the more important as the 2023 WCT season will be the main qualification route to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held in Teahupo’o.
However, this calendar will mark a change from 2022: the return of Surf Ranch, instead of G-Land.
As for the finals, they will once again be held for the third consecutive season in  California , on the side of  Trestles.

ImageQuelques critiques aussitôt le calendrier dévoilé

As soon as the schedule was unveiled by the WSL in the evening, the criticism began.
Tatiana Weston-Webb and Johanne Defay in particular called for “more lefts” (seen from the beach, a wave that breaks to the right rolls to the left from the perspective of the surfer in the ea. As opposed to a right hander, which for a person facing the ocean, is a wave that breaks to the left rolls to the right, from the point of view of the surfer riding it) Owen Wright, on the other hand, said he came to the post “just to see the comments”.
Brett Barley, Shane Beschen, Jett Schilling, Michael Rodrigues… many reacted to the new calendar.

The Haleiwa Challenger is finished. The last stage of the Challenger Series, it defined the end of the 2022 season, a season dominated by Leonardo Fioraventi and Bettylou Sakura Johnson, both top of the ranking.
